As stated last month, the year 2005 has been one of advancement and achievement.  We took on several projects and they are moving along quite nicely.  But we must not rest on our laurels.  The year 2006 can be even better!  We have new  projects (our newly acquired disaster-unit mobile trailer and the finalization of our repeater project to name a couple) to channel our efforts.  ARES enhancement and a membership drive  for 2006 should definitely be on our list for projects.  WE CAN DO IT!
Any other ideas??
GPS (global positioning system) units are fast becoming a way of life.  Many auto manufacturers are now offering "OnStar" (see last month's editorial!) and the price of small handheld units are now competively priced in the $100-$150 range.  In addition, the Motorola cellphone, Model V-60X, has a built-in GPS (call 911 and you can be pinpointed to within 300 yards)...much better than the older "nearest tower" concept which could be up to 10 miles distant!

Pg 2 Have a safe & joyous holiday season!
In the Bible, Paul wrote to the Ephesians that we are all members of the same body (of Christ) assisting and helping each other.  Using this analogy, I like to think that members of LARC can be like that. We have different abilities, skills, and interests and working together we can strengthen our club, grow in our friendship, and advance the cause of amateur radio.  We can use our abilities and our resources to provide services to the community, our neighbors, our friends, and our family. Regardless of our experience in amateur radio, there is a place for everyone to help.  I suggest we list our abilities, skills, and interests and volunteer to use them in our great hobby.  I hope you all have a wonderful Merry Christmas and remember the true reason for this season, the birth of Jesus.  I look forward to our meeting at Captain's Galley.          73's de ka4hkk, Tom
The LARC Newsletter has been published each month (except during the club's "hibernation" period) since October 1986!   Zowie!! Merry Christmas & Happy New Year! James, N4NIN, reports that the new 50- ohm hardline for the repeater has been delivered to the repeater site and the new N-type connectors are soon to be on hand to be installed on the coax.  All that remains is a fair weather day and a small workcrew to facilitate finalizing the installation project.       UPGRADED - Dec 3, 2005
