The Caldwell Amateur Radio Emergency Services (CARES) Net is called every Sunday night at 8:30 PM on the 147.33 (Hibriten) repeater. This is a formal directed net and is sponsored by the ARES. Its purpose is to train, and keep in readiness, a pool of qualified emergency radio operators in the event of a local and/or regional emergency. Net checkins will be called by alpha groups and, unless you check in & out, you will be called again during the informal portion to offer any comments, etc. The 147.33 repeater has a CTCSS tone of 141.3 mhz.     ??   Did you know... ?? In 1909, Annette Kellerman, the Australian swimming star, appeared on a Boston beach wearing a figure-fitting jersey bathing suit with sleeves shortened almost to her shoulders and trousers ending two inches above her knees. She was arrested for indecent exposure.

Bridge-to-Bridge Bike Ride

The Annual Bridge-to-Bridge Bike Ride is scheduled for Sunday, September 18th. The Ride has had a few changes from last year's ride. Please see Tom, KA4HKK, for the changes and your assignment at the next club meeting, September 8th! WCARS VE Team Hard At Work
On Thursday, Aug 25, 2005, the WCARS VE Team set up shop at the Caldwell Public Library. Several local hams sat for the exams!
AMATEUR RADIO PUBLIC AWARENESS DAY - On September 17th, Amateurs will participate in a 15-hour operating event on emergency power. On that day, amateurs make contacts with others who are also using only emergency power to demonstrate preparedness for emergency communications for the public. Emergency power can be any source that is completely separate from commercial mains: solar panels, generators, storage batteries, alternators powered by bicycles, battery packs in HTs, and wind power, etc. Operation can be from home or field.
