GPS (global positioning system) units are fast becoming a way of life. Many auto manufacturers are now offering "OnStar" (see last month's editorial!) and the price of small handheld units are now competively priced in the $100-$150 range. In addition, the Motorola cellphone, Model V-60X, has a built-in GPS (call 911 and you can be pinpointed to within 300 yards)...much better than the older "nearest tower" concept which could be up to 10 miles distant!

I have been using the WXspots program (as extensively reported in the CARES-
News
Newsletter on page 6) for the past 4-5 days. Matter-of-fact, I had it running when the weather cell came through this past Monday and I was able to see its march into our area via actual observers, first in the "statewide" mode and then in the "county" mode and I must say, I am thoroughly impressed by this [free] easy to download, install, & customize weather spotting software.
EVERY ARES/SKYWARN MEMBER NEEDS THIS PROGRAM!
Download the progam by going to
http://www.WXspots.com
. Go to bottom of home screen & follow prompts for "First time User" install.
